This past week, the Park City Miners boy’s tennis team played two matches, and ended up being victorious in each. They played Rowland Hall on Tuesday April 17, in their first match, and then Juan Diego on Thursday April 19, in the second match. Both matches were very good, and the teams showed just how tough they were.
Rowland Hall is usually one of the best teams in 2A, and even won state last year. However, going up against the 3A Miners was just a little too strong as the match ended up going in Park City’s favor, 4-1.

Everyone knows the typical spring sports: Baseball, Boys’ Tennis, Lacrosse, Golf, etc. However, how many Park City High School students have heard of the rough and grueling game of water polo? Okay, maybe they have heard of it, but do they know what it’s really all about?
“It’s a game of endurance, pretty much. You have to be able to swim fast and for a long time. But also be working against the other team, sometimes being drowned, to get the ball,” said Senior Eric Smith.

Track began its 2012 spring season with a meet at Kearns High School two weeks ago. The team then received a real test of competiveness the following week at the Pine View Invitational. High winds and intense heat harried runners at the two meets, and while times were slower than expected, the Miners still turned in strong performances.
The Kearns meet consisted entirely of relays, and featured unconventional events including the 4 by 1600m and a co-ed sprint medley. Park City also fielded teams in the traditionally fast and rousing 4 by 400m and 4 by 800m races.

The boys have surprised many with their winning streak over these past few weeks. In comparison to how they started off the season last year, Miners' baseball, under Head Coach Lou Green, has been quite the success.
“This season is like no other, the team chemistry is the best I have ever seen especially between the coaches and the players.” Said Junior Captain Mark Trevino. “We are winning which is fun, winning is always fun.”

The Park City Miners' track team began the 2012 outdoor season at the end of February with several critical changes. District realignment, new coaching staff, and the loss of talented runners are sure to shape an uncertain season.
The departure of Head Coach Hahn has prompted structural changes. Jeff Wyant, Park City’s head Cross Country coach, succeeded Hahn while retaining his position as distance track coach.
