Boys basketball stands tall

On Friday January 13th, the Park City Miners defeated Union high school 63-44. It was a complete domination from the beginning, as the Miners looked strong all game.

The trio of Britton Buford, Jono Schettler, and Jordan Ruda combined for 54 of the 63 points. The three looked good on both ends of the court as well, and the Miner fans showed their appreciation cheering loudly throughout the game.

“We had the right mentality from start to finish, and in the end we just played the right way,” said Coach Caleb Fine.

The Miners now have a record of 7-6, and look to win more throughout the season.

This game came after two straight losses, one to rival Wasatch, and the other to 4A East High School. This makes this victory even sweeter, as the Miners really look to improve and learn from the past two losses.

Coach Fine was very impressed with how his team showed up and dominated, as they really overcame the adversity built up throughout the past two games.

However, there is always room for improvement.

“We need to still be more consistent on defense, and really play five man defense. Everyone needs to keep contributing in order for us to continue to grow as a team,” said Fine.

The Miners proved this in their next game against Juan Diego on Tuesday, January 17th, with a 65-46 victory. It was once again a complete team win, as the Miners once again showed up offensively and defensively.

Jordan Ruda exploded with 26 points, and Jono Schettler also heavily contributed with 14 points. The Miners played team defense, and ultimately showed what they are capable of.

The Miners look forward to keep playing the way they have the past two games, with the end result being a win every time.
